The region has an active food and wine sector, from our local seafood available at the PierCafe Port Germein, Baroota Creek Olives and Honey, to Harry’s Homemade Fine Foods on Highway One, Blesings Garden Wines just up though the Port Germein Gorge at Bangor, and a good range of Cafe’s and Bakeries at Wirrabara (30 minutes), Melrose (35 minutes), Stone Hut (35 minutes), Crystal Brook (35 minutes), Quorn (60 minutes)and Laura for local chocolate at CocoLaura and icecream tastings.
Produce Markets are on somewhere in the region most weekends, with Port Pirie on the 2nd Sunday of each month, Wirrabara the 3rd Sunday of each month and Port Germein the 4th Sunday of each month.
Farm Gate stalls are also open seasonally. You’ll find O’Reilly’s and Taralee Orchards up at Wirrabara, plus Blesings Garden Wines at Bangor and Bartagunyah Wines between Bangor and Melrose.
